Bridges

When the time comes to cross them

Are you ready?

Did you prepare yourself for this moment?

Did you bring your best shoes?

Or will you fall?

Will there be a railing there to catch you

Or icy rushing water below?

Either way it doesn’t matter

Because nothing can prepare you

You may as well be jumping off a cliff

Throwing yourself in front of a bus

An exploding bomb

Because no

You are not prepared

Walking across this bridge

Is stepping across another milestone

A milestone of chaos

Right now I would rather be in the icy water

Six feet under

Than crossing this bridge

But everything has a time and place

And my time is here

And now

Walking to the other side of this bridge.
